pleased to meet you

My friend Josh Lewis took this photo for an article.
I don’t usually find Starbucks this hilarious.

My name is Hanna, and I’m a writer (among other things).

Born and raised in Eugene, I currently live in a tiny apartment in Seattle with my little dog. I’m a co-founding editor of Seattlish.

My work has been featured on the Huffington Post, McSweeney’s, the Stranger, XOJane, The Frisky,  LitReactor, KOMO News, KUOW, the Seattle PI, Bitch Magazine, and the Gloss, among other places. One of my essays is published in an anthology on beauty and the female body called The Better Bombshell. I’ve been interviewed by NPR, World News with Diane Sawyer, and The Portland Mercury.

I’ve also done voice work and been an on-air personality for various Seattle-area radio stations.

In a previous life, I was the Editor in Chief of Seattlest, and I worked in advertising for a while. Oh, and in college, I was a janitor and a cocktail waitress.

When I’m not stringing together words or making sounds, I enjoy music on vinyl, bourbon, college football, making impulse purchases at second-hand stores, ballet, and sitting in dark bars with friends.
